Two years ago, one of my best gal pals suggested a trip to the goop Wellness Summit’s launch event in Los Angeles as part of her birthday weekend celebration. Not sure what to expect, but game for anything health & wellness - I happily agreed. The event was fascinating to me as from the Resort Spa consulting world, I attend a variety of spa & design buyer focused events - this event was uniquely consumer focused with just under 1,000 attendees.
Speed up to last weekend in New York City’s Pier 17 … I planned this “spring wellness weekend” with Karly, my great friend that lives in Tribeca and founder of Body Heat Yoga Studios. The day prior to the summit, we visited the Four Seasons New York Downtown Spa and planned our personalized agendas. (Each hour there was on average more than 4 options to select from including speaker sessions, fitness classes and small group workshops).
Both times attending the goop summit exceed my (very high) expectations with the quality of programming, exceptional level of organizational detail, delicious healthy treats and fabulous gift bags. The athleisure clad event ran from 9am-7pm and was packed with informative speakers covering topics such as Integrated Healing, Beating Burnout, Superfoods, Resilience and Connection.
Highlights for me this year included Arianna Huffington presenting on sleep health; Elle Macpherson’s talk on how she was inspired to launch WelleCo; seeing the first hand consumer demand for Intuitive Healing Services - including Medium Readings and Reiki Energy Sessions; shopping the latest beauty and wellness products; connecting with unique wellness marketers including infared saunas & fitness tech; taking the time for inspiration + reflection… and enjoying precious time with my wonderful girlfriends! Look forward to making this an annual trip & would love to check out the goop London Summit in 2020. #GOALS
Pre-event online registration question asked for a word to describe why you were attending the wellness summit - I selected “Inspiration” - such a thoughtful touch as all attendees were greeted with customized bracelets from @MYINTENT at check-in.
